What you need

Ingredients

50g porridge oats
450ml semi-skimmed milk
10ml honey
5ml spoon oatmeal (keep a little for decoration)
125g fresh fruit (see Chef’s tip)

Equipment

chopping board
knife
measuring jug
measuring spoons
saucepan
wooden spoon

What you do

What you do

   1. Place the oats, milk and honey into a saucepan.
   2. Bring to the boil over a medium heat, then simmer for 5 minutes, stirring throughout, until thick and creamy.
   3. Remove from the heat and stir in the fruit.
   4. Spoon into bowls and serve hot with a little oatmeal scattered over the top.

Brilliant biscuits

Adding fruit contributes to your ‘5-a-day’ fruit and vegetable target. Bananas and berries when they are in season work well with porridge. If your favourite fruit is not in season, you could try dried or tinned versions like apricot, mango or even apple.
