The Grain Chain
Where does our bread come from

BREAD IN ALL DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES

Bread is made from flour, which comes from wheat. But there are many different types of bread. There are white loaves and brown loaves; round rolls and finger-shaped rolls; sweet breads and spicy breads; and buns with currants in or icing on top.

Do you know this song?

Five currant buns in a baker's shop

Round and fat with a cherry on the top

Along came (choose a friend's name)

With a penny one day

Bought a currant bun and took it away

Four currant buns in a baker's shop...

(keep going until you have no buns left!)

How many different types of bread, rolls or buns can you think of?
